Light-Induced Ring Pattern in a Dye-Doped Nematic Liquid Crystal

The use of dye-doped liquid crystals allows the amplification coupling light and crystals. Light can induce self-organization molecular order. appearance ring patterns has been observed, which associated with phase modulation. However, morphology dynamics are not consistent self-modulation. Based on an experimental setup two parallel coherence beams orthogonal to a crystal cell, one induces photo-isomerization other causes illumination, formation is studied. To these coherent beams, we synthesize methylred methyl ester as dye-dopant, photosensitive only commercial E7 matrix. mathematical model that accounts for between concentration cis-state order parameter, elucidate emergence rings forming in inhomogeneous medium. bifurcation diagram analytically characterized. emergence, propagation rings, establishment fair agreement observations.
